Ingrown Hair Removal Procedures.
Life sometimes tosses things at you that aren’t so pleasant. One of these pesky annoyances is the ingrown hair. It’s very likely that you’ve had one before, even if you didn’t know you had it. So what causes Diabetes ?
Many people have become aware at what a terrible disease diabetes is. Thousands of people die every year from diabetes-related illness and complications. Diabetes can affect anyone, and, as of today, there is no cure.
Most people know all of this, but they still struggle with some of the basic information about diabetes, such as what causes diabetes and how to prevent it. Here is so basic information about what causes diabetes and some advice on how you can change your life today to make it much easier to prevent diabetes.
First of all, not all of diabetes is created equal. There are actually two types of diabetes, and what causes diabetes varies with both. Diabetes itself is directly related to a chemical your body naturally creates called insulin. What insulin does is assist your blood in carrying sugar (used as fuel by cells all over your body). Without insulin, blood sugar levels skyrocket, causing a variety of serious, and in some cases, fatal results.
If you are a grown adult and do not yet have diabetes, you cannot get the first type, Type 1 diabetes. What causes diabetes in children? There is a genetic disorder. Type 1 diabetes is not preventable, and is generally the more severe of the two types of diabetes.
If you do not already have type 1 diabetes, you will most likely not get it. Type 1 diabetes is caused by a malfunction in your liver; it no longer is able to produce insulin. There is no cure, but regular insulin shots.
The more common type of diabetes that can be prevented is type 2 diabetes. This is also commonly called on-set diabetes, meaning it is something that is developed over time. In this case, prolonged and excessive blood sugar overwhelms the body’s ability to produce insulin and that part of your liver “breaks”, and this is what causes diabetes for most people. Scientists are working on a method to “fix” your liver, so that it can begin producing enough insulin again on its own, but until then, type 2 diabetics must also take regular insulin shots and closely monitor and restrict their diets for sugar.
An unhealthy diet is the main culprit in what causes diabetes. An excess of processed sugars, found in cookies, cakes, soft drinks and other “junk food”, as well as a non-active lifestyle are the main problems. To prevent diabetes, you should work hard to have better cardiovascular health; regular exercise and a better diet.
Knowing what causes diabetes is simple, and, now that you do, there is no excuse for you to not take steps today to improve your health and reduce your risk at getting diabetes.

Some simple ways to lower cholesterol.
Millions of people have high cholesterol levels – too high for good health. In large part, this is due to diets high in fat, sugar and simple carbohydrates. The liver is the organ which bears the brunt of these dietary indiscretions. As we get older, our cholesterol readings tend to jump. If your doctor has tested you and found your cholesterol readings to be rising to an unhealthy level, you may be prescribed one of the statin drugs, which causes your liver to stop producing cholesterol. This is one method of cholesterol control, but perhaps not the best solution. Here we’ve got some ways to lower cholesterol naturally, through the omission of cholesterol rich foods and the addition of foods known to reduce cholesterol levels.
We’ll start off with naming foods which you’ll want to avoid: saturated fats, such as those found in butter and milk proteins contribute to the synthesis of cholesterol in the liver. Read your food labels carefully for the saturated fat content. In this case, when you’re looking for ways to lower cholesterol readings, less is more, in favor of cholesterol control!
You also want to limit your consumption of sugar and simple carbs. When you digest these substances, your body experiences a rise in serum insulin, promoting an increase in lipid production – the ‘bad’ cholesterol.
Now, let’s get to the good guys, the foods which provide ways to lower cholesterol naturally, through foods which are easy to integrate into your daily menus.
- Veggies: vegetable proteins reduce your blood cholesterol levels. Consume plenty of these, particularly legumes, and make your portions generous! Beets, carrots, yams, artichokes and bitter greens provide support for your liver and protect against overproduction of cholesterol.
- Increase your consumption of fruits which contain pectin, such as apples, peaches, plums and berries. These foods are also high in water soluble fiber and are one of the best ways to lower cholesterol. Lemons play a highly supportive role in the health of your liver. Gooseberries help reduce blood serum cholesterol and triglyceride levels by promoting metabolism of fats in the liver. Research suggests this is due to the rich trace mineral content of the fruit. When serving goose, turkey, lab, duck, beef or pork – heavy on the cholesterol – a side of gooseberry jam or jelly reduces the uptake of cholesterol in the meats.
- Omega-3 oils: Cold water fish, such as salmon, halibut, sea bass and sardines are packed with Omega-3 oils, proven to help decrease cholesterol. Alternatively, you may achieve similar results with 1000-1500 mg of fish oil capsules daily, decreasing the synthesis of cholesterol and increasing the breakdown of triglycerides. Nuts and seeds are also rich sources of the Omega-3 oils. For example, walnuts, eaten in moderate amounts on a regular basis, decreases serum cholesterol levels, while favorably modifying the LDL. In a California study of men and women with an average cholesterol reading of 240, daily consumption of just 3 ½ ounces of almonds over a two month period reduced their cholesterol by 10-15% as compared to the group who consumed equal amounts of fat from cheese.
- Seasonings: one of the most flavorful ways to lower cholesterol! Use garlic liberally, in salads, soups, on breads and in meat dishes. Garlic has been amply demonstrated to reduce cholesterol. Ginger is another cholesterol fighter. Make a pot of fresh ginger tea, or try adding some finely minced fresh ginger and a bit of orange juice, cooked to a syrup in a saucepan of carrots. Crushed cardamom seeds, added to stews and soups, both improves the flavor and holds high cholesterol content of fatty meats in check, once completely digested.
All of these suggestions on ways to lower cholesterol levels naturally are easy and delicious. Now get your cholesterol down!

We have all heard by now that the baby boomers are retiring at a steady pace. It is amazing how this post war baby boom has affected a large portion of our history. The neat thing about the people that are retiring today is that with the advancements in health care they are more active and adventurous. I still believe in the thought that if you do not do some things like travel or garden or some other hobbies before you retire you most likely are not going to start at retirement age, but it seems like most people that plan to retire early have thought of how they are going to fill their time.
Many more people would retire earlier if they could afford to. They are predicting that we need a great deal of money in savings and investments in order to maintain the life we are presently living. For many people the major expense that they need to consider is major medical insurance. With the rising cost of health care you cannot afford to be without it but having to buy major medical insurance and pay for it out of pocket is an expense that most people cannot afford.
Many elderly need to choose between eating a good diet or purchasing their medications. We have managed to make the Medicare system so confusing that many seniors refuse to even apply because the process is so intimidating and long. We need to reform the major medical insurance polices so that everyone has the right to adequate medical care.
The result is that people are working longer than they want to in make certain they have medical coverage. This needs to be address as a nation sooner rather than later. The CEO’s of major medical insurance companies enjoy their bonus checks each year while others go broke and bankrupt from not having enough medical coverage. The best costs.
A recent study showed that one of the leading reasons for families filing bankruptcy is due to a medical catastrophe. This makes no sense to me. We live in a country with the best health care in the world. Many foreign diplomats and others with money come here to receive medical treatment, yet many of our children are only seen in emergency rooms at county hospitals because there they cannot be refused service for not having the means to pay.
Being able to take advantage of the medical advancements that have been made should not rely on the amount of money that you have. If only they would eat right in the first place.

Breast cancer research – a family perspective
Have you ever noticed how many people you hear about that are inflicted with cancer? It seems that every week we hear of someone that has been diagnosed with some form of cancer. It seems that the occurrences are becoming more frequent rather than less frequent even though there have been many years of cancer research, studies and treatments.
The prevention of cancer does not seem to have made many advancements. We have a better understanding of the causes of some cancers such as lung cancer as well as skin cancer but many other forms of the disease seem to not have an explanation of why they begin.
I have been very fortunate in my family. We have not had issues with the different forms of cancer to any large extent. My brother-in-law had a patch of cancerous cells removed from his skin. This was a minor surgery and the cancer was stopped. Recently my cousin who is like another sister to me was diagnosed with breast cancer. Her mother’s family has a history of this disease.
The ironic thing is that my cousin has been involved in breast cancer research for twelve years. She has a degree in pharmaceutical research. She did a fellowship working on different ways of manufacturing synthetic insulin. Once she was done with her fellowship she was hired by a drug company to help with breast cancer research. This company manufactures on of the drugs that is used in the chemotherapy process for victims of breast cancer. Because the company is involved in administering the drug it has many patients available to track regarding the breast cancer research.
My cousin is trying to find similarities between the people that are diagnosed with breast cancer. She is also working on the profiles of the people that seem to respond well to the treatments and for those that do not. The hope is that if a common denominator is found regarding who responds well and why this can be shared with those that are not doing as well.
As my cousin has been involved with the breast cancer research she has noticed how much the attitude of the person plays into their treatment and recovery. Those that have a positive attitude are much more likely to tolerate the medications and have a smoother adjustment. Those patients that are negative about their treatments or pessimistic about their survival rate often do not respond to the medications. My cousin told me that those that hear cancer and feel that this is a death sentence usually do die from cancer. When it comes to cancer attitude certainly plays a big role.
